The examples begin with the 12th-century "Orientis partibus" and continue through an excerpt from Schönberg's Fünf Orchesterstücke, and are each accompanied by a short explanatory text in Italian, French, and English. [PN] J. & W. C. 9803. [xxiii], 73 pp. Original wrappers reinforced with cloth tape, but almost entirely detached from the block. Overall in very good condition. 7.75 x 10.75 inches (19.5 x 27.5 cm).

The Italian composer, conductor, pianist, and writer on music Alfredo Casella is considered "the most influentially innovative figure in Italian music between the two world wars." (New Grove.) In addition to much orchestral and piano music, his important works include the ballet "La Giara" after Pirandello, and the opera "La Donna Serpente." (14379)
