Score to the American composer and pianist's string quartet in B minor, signed and inscribed by the composer on the front wrapper. 49 pp. 8vo. Light toning and wear to the wrappers, one split at the lower spine; otherwise in fine condition. 

Huss grew up in New York City, the son of German immigrant parents. After studying at the Royal Conservatory in Munich with Josef Rheinberger, he returned to the States and embarked on a career as a touring piano virtuoso. As a composer, he was regarded by contemporaries as one of the best of his generation.This string quartet, op. 31, was first performed by the Berkshire String Quartet on July 2, 1919. In Musical America, critic Walter Kramer described it as "the best string quartet that I know produced in America." (14377)
