Signed postcard photograph of the renowned French pianist, composer and pedagogue of Hungarian birth, inscribed at the foot in French to Giorgio Ciompi and dated 1932. Mounting remnants on the verso and some light edge wear; overall in fine condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.4 x 13.7 cm).A student of Georges Mathias (a Chopin student) and of Saint-Saens, he impressed Liszt, Rubinstein and Tchaikovsky with his playing and was celebrated for his beautiful touch and immaculate technique. A renowned teacher, his students included Nikita Magaloff, Guiomar Novaes, Jean Francaix, Yvonne Loriod, Beveridge Webster, Aaron Copland and many others. (14374)
