Original program from the first Covent Garden production of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, dated February 2, 1961. Conducted by Georg Solti and produced by John Gielgud, the opera had a completely different cast from its premiere at the Aldeburgh festival the previous summer: Russell Oberlin replaced Alfred Deller as Oberon, while John Lanigan replaced Peter Pears as Flute. 4 pp. Light toning; overall in very fine condition. 8.5 x 12.5 inches (21.6 x 31.8 cm).
