"A Living Legend" - Signed Poster

An attractive lithograph poster for a retrospective dedicated to the important Japanese screen actor, boldly signed at the lower right and dated 1983. Mifune appeared in person at the retrospective, held at the Film Center in Chicago on May 7-27, 1983. Shrink-wrapped onto cardboard backing; apparently in near fine condition.  21.25 x 19 inches (61.5 x 48 cm).

Toshiro Mifune appeared in almost 170 feature films and is best known for his 16-film collaboration with filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, from 1948 to 1965, in works such as Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood, Yojimbo, and Red Beard. He also portrayed Musashi Miyamoto in Hiroshi Inagaki’s Samurai Trilogy, as well as Lord Toranaga in the NBC TV miniseries Shogun.
