"Dido's Lament" - Monteux's String Parts With His Markings

String parts for the beloved aria from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, from the music library of the Pierre Monteux School for conducting in Hancock, Maine, and with Monteux's original markings. Three first violin parts, two second violin parts, two viola parts and three cello/bass parts, are each 1 p. facsimiles of hand-copied parts, stamped with the music library stamp of the school and numbered in pencil at the upper left corner. Nine of the ten have further markings such as accidentals, cuts, and note names, in pencil or colored pencil, showing that the piece was once performed a minor third lower and with a cut of eight measures at the end. In a card stock folded cover with the piece's title in black marker. Overall light toning, otherwise in fine condition. Parts 9.5 x 12.5 inches (24.3 x 32 cm); cover 11 x 14.25 inches (28.5 x 36.3 cm). From the estate of Monteux's daughter, Nancie Monteux Barendse. (13792)
