Souvenir Serge De Diaghileff's BALLET RUSSE - Original 1916 Tour Program
An important piece of ballet history, an original 1916 souvenir program from the first American tour of the Ballet Russe, with full-color illustrations of costumes by Leon Bakst (and others). 9 x 12 pages. 36 pages, with many full-color illustrations and photographs, including a photograph of Nijinsky in Spectre de la Rose and Bakst's Nijinsky as Faun. Program includes ballet descriptions, an itinerary, and 2 pgs of ads. Pages are of thick ivory uncoated paper, cover is thick mottled brown paper, with embossed gold art and letters. Program is complete and in fine condition, with light wear to the edges and a small surface loss on the cover (face). This is a particularly rare copy, in that it features the superb illustration of Nijinsky in Scheherezade by Robert Montenegro on the cover. This is the more uncommon variant of the program, which is more commonly found with a different illustration on the cover. (13740)Program, unsigned Dance
