Conus Violin Concerto - Autograph Musical Quotation
Autograph musical quotation from "the lady of the golden bow," penned on a calendar page giving her birthday of September 20, boldly signed and dated 1911. Parlow has written a quotation for violin of four measures, the opening Recitativo of the popular E minor Violin Concerto by Julius Conus. The quotation is matted with a reproduction signed photograph inscribed to a Miss Hall (Marie?!). AMQS 5 x 2.25 inches (12.9 x 5.5 cm); total size 6 x 9.5 inches (15.5 x 24.5 cm). Very uncommon in this format!The Canadian violinist is widely considered one the world's greatest female violinists ever. She studied in San Francisco and in St. Petersburg with Auer, giving her first recital at the age of six, and by the age of 15 she was performing for the British Royal Family. After many years of successful playing and touring, she taught at the Toronto Conservatory of Music.The renowned Parlow String Quartet, which was active from 1943 to 1958, acquired an international reputation.
