[African-Americana]

Three Original Photographs, ca. 1890

Three original portrait photographs of African-Americans, ca. 1890's. The first, on a postcard, shows a woman standing with one hand behind her back, next to a dining chair; the second, on a mount with the corners heavily cut away, a young man next to an ornate chair. The third, on the mount of the photographers Jackson & co., Brooklyn, shows an elegantly dressed woman seated and leaning her head on one hand. Notes about an attempt to identify her have been made in pencil on the verso. Some irregular edges, mounting remnants on the versos, and foxing and staining to the third picture; overall interesting and evocative images in very good condition. 3 x 4.5 inches (7.8 x 11.4 cm); 4.25 x 5 inches (10.7 x 12.5 cm); and 4.5 x 6.5 inches (11.2 x 16.5 cm).
