[Music Iconography]

A collection of three decorative watercolours of musical notation, circa 1870s

A collection of three decorative watercolors of musical notation, circa 1870's, each depicting several staves of music in pen & ink within decorative border of various vignettes and motifs, including flowers, landscape vistas, figures, birds, architectural details, etc., each intricately cut out in outline, mounted on blue paper. The three meticulously copied pieces of music appear to be short Viennese waltzes for piano. Three charming pieces evoking the spirit of late-nineteenth-century Vienna. Some light wear to the blue mounts, but overall in very fine condition. Each approx. 11 x 8 inches (27.5 x 20.5 cm), mounted to 14.25 x 10.75 inches (36.3 x 27.3 cm). (13397)
