Striking original press photograph of the great American jazz vocalist and pianist, a gifted song stylist known for her rich voice and perfect pitch, in concert with horn players. Press caption on the verso, translated from the German, reads: "Sarah Vaughan brought hot stuff - The 1954/1955 Berlin jazz season began in the Sportpalast with Harold Davison's "Jazz-Parade." It centered around the black singer Sarah Vaughan, who came to Germany for the first time and, besides Ella Fitzgerald, is today's most important jazz singer. Sarah Vaughan was accompanied by Illinois Jacquet and his orchestra." Dated July 10, 1954. In very fine condition. 19.8 x 15.1 cm. (12984)
