Leaving Gershwin's Funeral - 1937 Press Photograph

Original 1937 press photograph showing the American lyricist leaving temple with his wife Leonore and another man, after the funeral rites for his composer brother.  Gershwin had died suddenly on July 11, 1937, at age 38, from a brain tumor diagnosed too late to save him. His death shocked his many friends and admirers. Original press caption printed below image and unevenly trimmed; slight creasing and one small tear to the edges; otherwise in very good condition. 20.2 x 28.5 cm. (12968)
