Hollywood Figures Surrender to U.S. Marshal - Original Photograph

Original 1947 press photograph showing the "Hollywood Ten" at their surrender to the U.S. Marshal, after being indicted on charges of contempt of Congress.  The ten writers, directors, and producers - Robert Adrian Scott, Edward Dmytryk, Samuel Ornitz, Lester Cole, Herbert Biberman, Albert Maltz, Alvah Bessie,  John Howard Lawson, Ring Lardner, Jr., and Dalton Trumbo (who is not shown) - went on to serve jail terms after protesting the investigations of the House Un-American Activities Committee into Communism in Hollywood.

Unevenly trimmed with light crackling over the image; original press caption and stamps on verso; overall in very good condition. 22.1 x 18.5 cm. (12959)
