Original 1971 doubleweight photograph by Martha Swope, official photographer of New York City Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, and Dance Theatre of Harlem whose portraits have become iconic images of 20th-century dance. The image shows the great choreographer in rehearsal at the New York City Ballet, preparing for the 1971 premiere of his "The Goldberg Variations" with dancers Helgi Tomasson and Patricia McBride.
