Early Autograph Musical Quotation
Early AMQS from the great Polish American pianist and composer, penned at the age of eighteen. Hofmann has written two measures of music in G major and 3/4 time, with the tempo indication Allegretto, and has signed and dated London, December 20, 1894. On a card with printed letterhead from a London address; trimmed with remnants of a stamp on the verso. One small crease; otherwise in fine condition. 11.4 x 9.6 cm.Hofmann had just made his adult debut in Hamburg in March 1894, after a brief but very influential period of lessons with Anton Rubinstein, who died shortly thereafter in November.
