"Looking forward to reading it and re-living some of those good years" - Typed Note Signed to Kitty Carlisle about her Memoir

Kitty Carlisle was an American singer, actress and spokeswoman for the arts. She is best remembered as a regular panelist on the television game show To Tell the Truth, but earlier she appeared on Broadway in several operettas and musical comedies, and in the American premiere of Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia.  Late in 1933, she dated George Gershwin, "until George went to California" and in 1946 married playwright and theatrical producer Moss Hart, with whom she had two children.  Carlisle served 20 years on the New York State Council on the Arts. In 1991, she received the National Medal of Arts from President George H. W. Bush. Eight years later, in 1999, she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. (12856)
