Typed note signed from the important composer to violinist Vasily Petrovich Shirinsky, a founding member of the Beethoven Quartet, to whose memory Shostakovich's Eleventh Quartet is dedicated. Translated from the Russian: "Dear Vasily Petrovich! On Thursday, October 10, at 2 pm, a meeting of the Best Children's Song Contest Jury members will be held at the Union of Soviet Composers building at 3 Miusskaya St, house 4/6." Shostakovich has signed in his role as chairman of the jury. In very fine condition, 20.6 x 15.2 cm. With original envelope in the composer's hand, with stamp removed, 15.9 x 11.2 cm.
