Signed Program Page from "Tenderloin"

First page from the program of the 2000 Encores concert production of Tenderloin, signed by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, the lyrics and music partnership also known for Fiddler on the Roof and Fiorello!  Harnick's wife, artist and actress Margery Gray Harnick, has also signed. Left edge rough; otherwise in very fine condition.  13.5 x 21.6 cm.

Tenderloin (1960), with a book by George Abbott and Jerome Weidman, was Harnick and Bock's follow-up to the highly successful Pulitzer Prize-winning Fiorello! a year earlier. The musical is based on a 1959 novel by Samuel Hopkins Adams. Set in the Tenderloin, a red-light district in 1890's Manhattan, the show's story focuses on Reverend Brock, a character loosely based on American clergyman and social reformer Charles Henry Parkhurst.
