Signed 1948 Program of "Lend an Ear"
Original program from the 1948 Boston previews of the musical revue Lend an Ear, signed on the cover by twelve members of the cast. Lend an Ear, with a book, music, and lyrics by Charles Gaynor and additional sketches by Joseph Stein and Will Glickman, was a breakthrough production for the young Carol Channing. The members of the cast (described in the New York Times as "some fresh-grown youngsters whose talents have not been corrupted yet") who have signed are: Yvonne Adair, Anne Renee Anderson, Dorothy Babbs, William Eythe, Nancy Franklin, Gloria Hamilton, Bob Herget, Beverly Hosier, Gene Nelson, Bob Scheerer, Jeanine Smith, and William Tabbert. Tabbert would star the following year in South Pacific, and Nelson would go on to Lullaby of Broadway (opposite Doris Day), Oklahoma! and later, Follies. Dated the week of December 6, 1948.
