1959 Photograph with Dali
Amusing vintage 1959 Agence Dalmas of Paris photograph of the legendary entertainer smiling broadly as she exits from a large transparent orb. Dali can be seen on the far right edge of the image! 7.3 x 9.5 inches (18.4 x 24 cm) and in fine condition.The orb pictured here predates the iconic 1963 photograph of model Simone D’Aillencourt landing in a glass bubble on the River Seine in Paris, as conceived of and taken by fashion photographer Melvin Sokolsky. Designed for a surreal Harper’s Bazaar magazine spring shoot, that plexiglass bubble was hung from a cable on a crane in various locations around Paris. It is possible the present photograph was an earlier effort along the same lines. (12770)
