Original press photograph of the young American conductor leading the Israel Philharmonic from the piano on a makeshift stage at Beersheba on November 20, 1948, only a few months after Israel's independence.  Soldiers keep watch on the ruined walls above the audience.  A historic image in very fine condition.  25.8 x 20.2 cm.
