Autograph Letter regarding performances at the Olympia and Folies Bergère

An interesting ALS from the renowned French actress and cabaret singer who was immortalized in a number of works by prominent Belle Époche poster artists Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Cheret. In the somewhat difficult to decipher letter to a business associate, Guilbert mentions her upcoming performances at the Olympia and Folies Bergère in September, before chastising her correspondent about the terms of an agreement (translated from the French): "Regarding the 'publicity'... it would have been much more elegantly courteous not to remove that small correction, and to count on my good nature, which last year, despite your agreement, went otherwise." But, she goes, on, "All that isn't so serious, and I am certain that you will do the publicity, [and] that your interests will make sure you will not make this season the worst of the year." Undated.

2 pp. of a bifolium with folds, one hole, but overall in fine condition. 7 x 9 inches (17.7 x 22.5 cm).

"C'est entendu - je chanterai...Olympia , puis Folies Bergeres en Septembre. Je vous confirme la lettre engagement recue ce matin. Quant à la "publicite" que vous savez changer, il eut été *beaucoup* plus *elegamment* courtois de ne pas soulever cette petite rectification et de vous souvenir, et de compter son *ma bonne nature*, qui l'année dernière, malgré votre traité, a passé autre. J'ai reclamé pour la forme [?], vous le savez bien, car vous ne...pas eu...la meilleure des notes! Enfin... tout cela n'est past bien grave, et je suis certaine que vous ferez la publicité que vos entrets  [?] vous  de faire aucune saison qui est plus mauvaise de l'anner [?] - Mais...regarde - Mes meilleurs compliments - Votre devouée Yvette Guilbert."
