Collection of Letters and Signed Catalogues

An interesting small grouping of autograph notes and signed catalogues, inscribed by Felix Klee, son of the esteemed Swiss-German painter Paul Klee, to Ferdinand Vuffray, Swiss Consul. Included are catalogues from exhibitions of Paul Klee's works in 1970-1972 in Munich and Augsburg, as well as a book about the artist's work by Hans K. Roethel and an autograph Christmas card from Felix Klee on a card featuring his father's work. Items overall in very good to fine condition, listed in full below.

Catalogue of an exhibition of Paul Klee's work at the Haus der Kunst, Munich, from October 1970 to January 1971, inscribed on the first free endpaper by Felix Klee to M. Vuffray "avec mes sentiments sincères" and dated October 9, 1970. Softcover. 67 pp. text and approx. 100 pp. images and advertising, unpaginated. Light shelf wear and toning; overall very good.

Catalogue of an exhibition of Paul Klee's watercolors, drawings, and prints at the Kunstverein Augsburg from September to November 1972. Inscribed on the half title by Felix Klee in German "in the spirit of European unity and with all best wishes," and dated September 30, 1972. With an autograph note from Felix Klee dated October 22, 1972, a photocopy of a clipping about the exhibition, and two photographs, including one of Felix Klee, tipped to the inside cover and half title. Softcover. Unpaginated, approx. 76 pp. Half title detached; some wear to spine.

Hans K. Roethel: Paul Klee in München (Bern: Stämpfli, 1971), inscribed in another hand on the half title in German "To my dear daughter on September 25, 1972 with best wishes, Papa." Hardcover. 137 pp. Light shelf wear; overall fine.

Autograph Christmas and New Year's card from Felix Klee and family to Ferdinand Vuffry, with original envelope, postmarked December 27, 1973. The Christmas card features a print of Klee's "Wachstum regt sich."

Felix Klee, only son of Paul and Lily Klee, was a German-Swiss art historian, painter and theatrical director. As an art historian, he focused on his father's works, and became an important interpreter of Klee and his contemporaries. Felix Klee also published Paul Klee's diaries, poems and letters. (12531)
