Early Autograph Signature
Scarce autograph signature of the renowned American violinist who premiered the violin concertos of Alban Berg and Arnold Schoenberg and who was a close associate of Webern (who conducted him in the British premiere of the Berg Concerto in 1936). 9.5 x 14 cm. Postcard with mounted blue-tinted inset halftone portrait, inscribed "With kindest regards to a 'Wienerin' Louis W. Krasner Vienna - Feb 25, 1928."The present autograph is from the earliest years of Krasner's performing career. In the mid-1920's, Mr. Krasner continued his studies with Lucien Capet in Paris, Otakar Sevcik in Pesek, Czechoslovakia, and Carl Flesch in Berlin, and began his concert career in Europe. By then he had become an advocate of 20th- century composers, most notably Joseph Achron and Alfredo Casella, whose concertos he performed throughout Europe in 1928. It was not until 1930 that he met Berg, Anton Webern and other Schoenberg students in Vienna. (12494)
