[Lully, Jean Baptiste. (1632–1687)]

Selections from Seven Operas - 1694 Copyist Manuscript

Contemporary manuscript vocal score in a scribal hand, signed with a paraph and what appears to be the name "Ferlet" and dated 1694 at the head of the first page. 188 pp, 30 x 11.5 cm., brown leather binding with decorative gilt stamping and four raised bands, title plate to spine reading "Recueil D'Operas / TO[ME] II," including a miscellany of overtures and dance music from Lully operas and ballets, generally for voice with text or for a treble instrument, from Phaeton, Bellerophon, Proserpine, Le Temple de la Paix, Amadis, Thetis et Pelée, and Achille et Polixene. Binding worn along the spine, otherwise in fine condition throughout.

The manuscript is likely in the hand of a member of the Ferlets family of musicians living in Bourgogne in the 17th-18th centuries.  (12368)
