Vintage albumen photograph of a pencil portrait of the great French/Swiss composer by Fernand Ochsé, signed and inscribed in ink by Honegger to the composer Richard Hammond (1896 - 1980). 5 x 7 inches. Chipped at corners, a few creases, otherwise very good.The quiet and intimate image of the composer is by his close friend Fernand Ochsé, the "man who contributed more to my career than certain masters...[he was a] musician, painter, literary figure, stage designer who has had the most happy influence on my development. He was an incomparable friend to me, whose memory I cherish in profound gratitude. His diappearance during the terrible days of the Occupation remains one of the deepest sorrows of my life. Since that time, I have never heard one of my new works without wondering: 'What would Fernand have thought of it?'" (as quoted in Geoffrey K.
