Lazzari, Sylvio. (1857 - 1944)

Zwei Lieder fu?r eine tiefe Singstimme mit Begleitung des Pianoforte. Op. 6 & Drei Lieder fu?r eine tiefe Singstimme mit Begleitung des Pianoforte. TWO SIGNED PRESENTATION COPIES TO BLANCHE PUISAIS

Leipzig: Breitkopf & Härtel. [1884, 1885]. First Edition. Two presentation copies of rare early scores from the conservatory years of the composer, each inscribed to the French Mezzo soprano Blanche Boidin-Puisais. The Drei Lieder score is inscribed to her at the head of the title page (7 pp, front pink wrapper detached but present); the Zwei Lieder is inscribed on the upper right of the front wrapper (9 pp, wrappers repaired with tape along the spine).

Interesting signed scores from the Austrian-born French composer, a student of Guiraud, Franck and Gounod, who was president of the Wagner Society (from 1894) and choirmaster at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Ysaye championed his Violin Sonata and his 1922 Rhapsodie for violin and orchestra was premiered by Enesco.

Blanche Boidin-Puisais (b. 1854) studied at the Conservatoire Nationale De Musique Paris, sang with Van Dyck as Brangaene and created The Countess in "Gilles of Bretagne" (Kowalski) in 1878. (11962)
