Lazzari, Sylvio. (1857-1944) [Verlaine, Paul. (1833-1896)]

Spleen. [Op.19, no. 1] - AUTOGRAPH MUSICAL MANUSCRIPT

Autograph musical manuscript. N.p., n.d. [Paris, ca. 1894]. Title; 3 pp. Titled and signed by the composer on the first page and again at the head of the first page of music, followed by 37 measures scored for voice and piano, entirely in the hand of the composer.

An interesting manuscript from the Austrian-born French composer, a student of Guiraud, Franck and Gounod, who was president of the Wagner Society (from 1894) and choirmaster at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Ysaye championed his Violin Sonata and his 1922 Rhapsodie for violin and orchestra was premiered by Enesco. "Spleen" was published in 1894 by Fromont (Paris) as the composer's Op. 19 no. 1, in his "Trois mélodies." (11961)
