Joachim, Joseph. (1831-1907)

Autograph Letter to the daughter of George Clinton

An interesting autograph letter from the great Hungarian violinist, dedicatee of the Brahms Concerto and many other works. 1 page, in English, dated Monday, no month, no year. Addressed to Miss Clinton, evidently the daughter of the George A. Clinton (1850 - 1913), eminent British clarinet virtuoso, member of Queen Victoria's private ensemble, and the principal clarinettist for the Philharmonic Society and Crystal Palace. The letter arranging a rehearsal at the English piano manufacturer Broadwood and Sons, in full: "Will you name any time on Thursday or Friday that would suit you for bring [sic] over the Sonata? I propose Broadwood's great Pulteney Street, because I think it will likewise be the most convenient for you to rehearse there. My wife send her very best thanks for the tickets and I remain, dear Miss Clinton, very truly yours / Joseph Joachim." Mounting remnants to verso of attached blank second page, otherwise in fine condition. (11833)
