Number 3 of 300 copies of the Deluxe Limited Edition facsimile produced by La Scala to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Verdi's death. An elaborate production, this copy was specially produced and dedicated on the limitation page for "Ecc. Cav. di Gr. Cr. Conte Ettore CONTI / Senatore del Regno." Large upright folio. 30 x 40 cm; 16 x 11.5 inches. Foreword by Ildebrando Pizzeti, 4 pp. in inserted heavy card folder (loose, as issued). Beautifully bound in modern blue cloth with crimson leather title plate to spine and in very fine condition. This copy produced for Senator Ettore Conti (1871 - 1972), Italian civil engineer, electricity industrialist, and influential businessman.

The Requiem was premiered at Milan's San Marco on May 22, 1874,and was followed by three performances at La Scala with the same soloists (Teresa Stoltz, Maria Waldmann, Giuseppe Capponi, and Ormondo Maini). Verdi conducted the performance on May 25, and Faccio conducted those on May 27 and 29. (11753)
