AMQS of the opening "once upon a time" mofit from the tone poem written in 1894–95, chronicling the misadventures and pranks of the German peasant folk hero Till Eulenspiegel. Two bars, signed above "Richard Strauss, on a small sheet (9.25 x 7.25 cm) mounted at the edges to a slighly larger card.
