Two Signed Photographs of Theodore Kosloff as "Electricity"
A pair of striking original photographs from the 1930 American pre-Code musical romantic comedy film "Madam Satan" produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille for MGM. Each signed and inscribed by Russian-born ballet dancer, choreographer and film and stage actor Theodore Kosloff who played "Electricity" and who is the focus of the present photographs, shown costumed in his remarkable high-Deco costume. Each measuring approx. 9 x 7.25 inches, each inscribed and dated 1930, Dallas, TX. Pin holes and creases to the corners, some chipping and tears affecting one of the inscriptions.In the film, the character Angela learns that her unfaithful husband intends to go to a costume ball on a moored dirigible in New York City. She disguises herself and attempts to "vamp" her husband there and during the ball there are a number of exotic musical numbers, including the one pictured in the present photographs. Eventually, a thunderstorm causes the dirigible to break apart and everyone is forced to parachute into the reservoir in Central Park. (11574)
