Rare signed performance payment receipt from the creator of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda and works by Bellini and Mendelssohn, one of the most celebrated singers in history, whose early death at the age of 28 contributed to her status as a figure of legend. Printed receipt signed ‘M.F. Malibran’, Theatre Royal Italien, Paris, 17 March 1831, a printed receipt completed in manuscript and being a receipt for one thousand and seventy-five francs for her ‘deuxieme representation de la semaine courante’, with Malibran’s signature adjacent, a little spotting and offsetting from signature where previously folded, one page, 4to.
