Le Pont Mirabeau

Autograph musical manuscript, for voice and piano, a setting of Apollinaire's "Le Pont Mirabeau," accomplished, signed and dated "Neuilly / 8 OCt. 1950 / P. Babin" by the composer, contained in pink wrappers, the title written in gouache, a drawing after the original by Picasso ("Guillaume Apollinaire vu par Picasso") affixed to the front, text also inscribed on a separate sheet laid in. 27 x 35 cm.


Pablo Picasso, the inventor of Cubism, and Guillaume Apollinaire, the inventor of Surrealism, met in 1905, forged a close friendship, and between them laid the foundations of modernism in twentieth-century art and literature. (11226)
