Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) began editing Handel's oratorios in the 1780s for performances and planned to produce, with Thomas Linley the elder, a complete edition. Some 180 publications, including 40 oratorios, were issued as part of a series he produced between 1787 and 1797. (11147)
