Attractive early signed lithograph portrait of the great composer, boldly signed and inscribed to the pianist and conductor Liborius Hauptmann (Pacific Salon Orchestra) and dated Wien 15.5.24. 15 x 26 cm (6 x 10 inches), in very fine condition, nicely matted and framed to 28 x 38 cm (11 x 15 inches).


Strauss inaugurated his sixtieth birthday celebrations by conducting the first performance of Schlagobers [Strauss’ ballet Schlagobers, op. 70 (“Whipped Cream”)] in Vienna on 9 May, 1924, earlier in the week of the present inscription. (11086)
