Signed very uncommon early original Hoppé gelatin silver portrait photograph of the very prolific English composer, teacher of Benjamin Britten and many others. He wrote many songs, chamber music and works for the piano and his Piano Concerto, recorded by Eileen Joyce, is highly considered. He also wrote the music for the Australian film "The Overlanders." An original photograph by the important German-born British photographer, one of the most important photographic artists of his era, signed in ink by the photographer on a smaller upper mount, and by the composer "in sincere regard from John Ireland / May 1915" on the contrasting lower mount. 17 x 23.5 overall, lower mount a little unevenly cut, else in fine condition.
