Signed souvenir program from the original 1974 Broadway production with signatures to title page from the playwright and most of the principles, including leads Anthony Hopkins and Peter Firth.  24 pp.  Wear to spine, surface crease to upper left corner of front cover, else fine.  7 x 12.5 inches (17.8 x 31.8 cm.).
Equus, the story of a psychiatrist who attempts to treat a young man with a pathological religious fascination for horses, was first staged at the National Theatre in London, opening in 1973 with Alex McCowen and Peter Firth originating the roles of Dr. Martin Dysart and his young patient Alan Strang.  The play opened on Broadway the following year, with Firth transferring and Anthony Hopkins taking over for McCowen, where it would run for 1,209 performances.  The cast would see a number of prominent actors during that time, including Leonard Nimoy, Anthony Perkins, Richard Burton, and Tom Hulce.
