Signed presentation copy from the composer, inscribed: “For Maxine --- With the very best thoughts of the recalcitrant author - George Antheil / Hollywood - 1946.” Antheil has added an AMQS from his 4th Symphony as a part of his inscription. Very good copy with the original owner Ex-Libris plate opposite the dedication page, a bit of dust soiling and slight edge wear, without dust jacket. 378 pp.The memoirs of the composer with much on his adventures in Paris in the 1920s with James Joyce, Gertrude Stein, etc. The 4th Symphony was finished in 1944 and dubbed “42”. Leopold Stokowski premiered the work at Carnegie Hall on February 13th, 1944 with the NBC Symphony. (10627)
