Full length jumbo Eug. Pirou of Paris cabinet photograph of the legendary baritone, creator of Verdi's Iago and Falstaff, Leoncavallo's Tonio and many other important roles - one of the GREATS of the Golden Age. Toning, light scratches, mounting remnants and some surface surface losses mostly on the mount. Rare in this large format. About 1 cm thick (!), measuring 8.5 x 12.75 inches [20 x 32 cm].


Maurel is shown (with Julia Guirandon), as Mathias, a role he created in Paris at the Opéra Comique on April 11, 1900 in the premiere of Camille Erlanger's "Le Juif Polonais." (10573)
