[Bull, Ole. (1810-1880)] Wallace, William Vincent. (1812 - 1865)

Autograph Letter

Autograph letter from the Irish composer and musician. 1 page, New York, May 25, [18]44. Addressed to the Impresario and conductor, James Gaspard Maeder {"My dear Maeder"), reporting that, in full: "Immediately as Ole Bull arrived here, I mentioned your name to him as the person best qualified to direct his concerts in Boston, and that you had done so for me in the most satisfactory manner. As he was surrounded by friends, and had not time to recover from the fatigues of his journey from Baltimore, it is possible that it may have escaped his memory. I know Ole Bull's noble disposition and feel....that he would have done justice to your talents if he had not been prevented, either by forgetfulness or the interference of those who advise him in relation to his affairs in Boston. Hoping to see you and Mrs. Maeder some time in June, I remain, yrs. truly Wm. V. Wallace." (10357)
