"The Cradle Will Rock" - Signed Revival Playbill

Original Playbill from the 1947 Broadway revival of The Cradle Will Rock, signed to cover by Blitzstein, the composer, lyricist, and librettist.  An original ticket stub and performance sheet have been affixed to the first page.  32 pp.  Cover is split along lower portion of spine, otherwise in fine condition.  6.5 x 9 inches (16.5 x 22.9 cm.).

Marcus Blitzstein won national attention in 1937 when his pro-union musical The Cradle Will Rock, directed by Orson Welles, was shut down by the Works Progress Administration.  He is particularly known for The Cradle Will Rock and for his Off-Broadway translation/adaptation of The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, as well as for operas, musicals, and film music.
