Rosza, Miklos. (1907–1995)

"Tripartita" - SIGNED SCORE

Wiesbaden: Breitkopf & Härtel. Partitur-Bibliothek Nr. 4880. 8vo score, self-printed wrappers. 113 ppp. Signed and inscribed by the composer with his nickname on the title page, "For Walter from Milli, 1975." Fine condition.

Best remembered as one of the greatest film composers, working first in Britain with Alexander Korda before settling in the US, where he scored such classics as Double Indemnity, Spellbound and Ben Hur, Rosza's orchestral music inhabits very different territory from the post-romantic opulence of his films. The 1972 "Tripartita" was first performed by Rostropovich with the National Symphony in Washington and is strongly influenced by Stravinskyan neoclassicism. (10314)
