Glossy 8 x 10 inch photograph, boldly signed and inscribed by the great French harpist/composer/conductor, "for Janet Putnam, one of my most daring followers, charming friend, fine artist / Carlos Salzedo 1942." In fine condition and sold with a vintage postcard photograph of Putnam with her harp.The American harpist Janet Putnam (1921 - 2011) was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and a jazz harpist who made recordings with Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, and Artie Shaw. She was married to cellist David Soyer of the Guarneri String Quartet.
Generally regarded as one of the finest harpists in history, Salzedo's virtuosity remains unparalleled. He wrote numerous works for harp which remain in the repertoire. (10190)
