More About Drew

Familiar already to many of our clients and colleagues from his frequent presence assisting at Book Fairs, Drew is an esteemed lecturer and writer on music, his research focusing on music making on both sides of the Atlantic since 1900. His first book, John Kirkpatrick, American Music, and the Printed Page, was awarded the ASCAP Deems Taylor / Virgil Thomson award for outstanding music criticism in 2014. His second book, Thomas Adès: In Seven Essays, is currently under contract with Oxford University Press. A member of the Board of the Ives Society and editor of the Virgil Thomson Works List for the Virgil Thomson Society, Massey holds a PhD in Historical Musicology from Harvard and his articles have appeared in leading publications including Journal of the American Musicological Society, Journal of the Society for American Music, Music and Letters, Notes, Salmagundi and others. He has taught at Harvard, Brown, Tufts, Northeastern and Binghamton Universities. In addition to the evident musicological expertise Drew brings to our cataloging efforts, he has also designed and built our new website (about which we are so very excited!). Looking ahead, Drew will also continue to oversee the technological sides of things and will be working to build a more vibrant social media presence which we hope will keep us more and more in touch with our growing clientele of music and art lovers worldwide.
