A large and extensively worked autograph manuscript sketchleaf for the first of the Drei Hymnen, Op. 71, accomplished in pencil on both sides of a trimmed sheet of printed musical manuscript paper, signed and dated in ink on the composer's sixtieth birthday "Richard Strauss / Garmisch, 11.6.24".  Approx. 56 measures, with vocal line and short score, as well as unidentified scoring.  Numbered "7" in the corner of the inscribed side, with additional (apparently mathematical) notations in two locations. 35.5 x 12.5 cm. 1904 NY Wannamaker Store Concert Program

Scarce original April 16 "Post-Easter Invitation Concert" program from the composer's 1904 American tour, during which Strauss conducted the premiere of his Symphonia Domestica in NY and gave a total of 35 concerts and recitals. (Kurt Wilhelm, p. 298) On the present program, he conducted his Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegel and four songs songs, with his wife Pauline Strauss de Ahna, appearing with the "Wetzler Symphony Orchestra of One Hundred Musicians" at New York's Wannamaker Store. Signed Menu with Autograph Musical Quotation "Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche"

Autograph musical quotation signed from the important composer, accomplished in pencil in the lower left margin of a large illustrated menu for a dinner in his honor held at the Lotos Club in New York, March 19th 1904. Another short AMQS has been added at the lower right by the important pianist Raphael Joseffy, one of Liszt's most famous students (and who also studied with Moscheles and Tausig!). The elaborately designed and illustrated menu depicts scenes from Strauss' works, a vignette portrait of the composer, and the many courses of the meal, which included "Tenderloin of Beef Don Juan" and "Heldenleben Cream."
