Original drawing in brown ink, accomplished in the hand of the composer on paper with letterhead of the "Maison du Roi / Département des Beaux Arts", annotated in the hand of the Vicomte de Beauchesne [from the sale of his library]: «fait par Rossini, le 9 mars 1829». Together with a concert pass in the hand of the composer "Laissez passez 2 personnes. G. Rossini / A le 22." 16 x 19 cm.

Sammelband of Scores, including one SIGNED BY ROSSINI

A handsome sammelband of 25 early nineteenth-century Italian opera arias, including one aria signed by Rossini, collected and assembled by the Marquis of Bourdeille ca. 1820. Included are arias by Mozart, Guglielmi, Martini, Pucitta, Paër, Gail, Fioravanti, Cimarosa, Pacini, and Mercadante, as well as 6 scores to arias from Rossini's early operas Demetrio e Polybio, Il Turco in Italia, Otello, and Armide, the last of which is autographed on the first page by the composer. A manuscript table of contents is bound into the volume. Ca. 220 pp. total. Hardcover, red boards and red leather spine. 1892 Portrait medal of the important composer, signed Johnson–Milano. Recto shows Rossini in profile to right with "Gioacchino Rossini" to left and right; verso reads: "Pesaro nel primo centenario Rossiniano / Feste del Luglio-Agosto 1892 / Per cura del comitato ordinatore." 1 3/8 inches (35 mm.) Rare. Not in Niggl, although apparently a variant of Niggl 1702–1706.

Albumen photograph of a highly amusing caricature of the composer, signed and inscribed by Rossini to the important French Mezzo-soprano, Rosine Stoltz (creator of Ascanio in Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini, Marguerite in Auber's Le lac des fées, the title role in Marie Stuart, and two Donizetti heroines, Léonor in La favorite and Zayda in Dom Sébastien): 'Offert à ma brillante Interprete et aimable amie Rosine Stoltz, Gioachino Rossini, Paris, 26 Nov 1858" ("Offered to my brilliant interpreter and beloved friend Rosine Stoltz").
