Souvenir program from the great ballerina's 1914-15 tour, featuring halftone photographs of Pavlova and others, together with essays about each of the pieces performed, the cover featuring an inset halftone photograph in decorative printed frame and the dancer's name in raised type to the lower right.  Pavlova's repertoire for the season included dances set to music by Bayer, Dargomiszki, Drigo, Glazunov, Gounod, Liszt, and Spendiarow.  Towards the back of the program, an extended tutorial on three new social dances of Pavlova's own creation can be found, including the Pavlowana.  16 pp.  Bound with string, in fine condition.  9 x 12 inches (22.9 x 30.5 cm.). Matte finish postcard photograph of the great ballerina, by the Mishkin Studio of New York, signed neatly across the photograph in black ink. An evocative character portrait of the famed Russian ballerina, shown hunched over, wearing a cloth band with flowers around her hair, an off-the-shoulder polka-dot dress, and eating grapes. In fine condition, with scattered silvering to darker areas of the image. 3.5 x 5.5 inches.

The Russian prima ballerina is pictured in this 7.25" x 9.75" silver gelatin photograph sitting in an extravagant gown with her arm on her knee, a coy smile on her face. Signed and inscribed to the American Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator, Musical Director, Conductor and Musical Contractor, Alexander Haas in 1928. Mounted to rigid backing, silvering throughout the dark areas, else fine.

A beautiful bound volume of special issues and supplements to the Parisian theatrical periodical Comoedia Illustré chronicling the 1909–1921 seasons of the Ballets Russes, with many photographs and full-color illustrations relating to the legendary ballet company. A selection of souvenir programs (published as supplements to the magazine) and extracts from the magazine are arranged in chronological order; interspersed leaves with texts by V. Svetloff (Russian critic and biographer of Anna Pavlova) give further details of each year's productions. Ownership inscription of Osborne Robinson and exhibition loan details on front free endpaper, some marginal dust-soiling, original green silk-covered boards with pictorial inlay (from The Firebird) by Natalia Goncharova, rebacked in green morocco, modern clothGraphically interesting endpapers covered in the names of important Ballets Russes figures. Most pages unnumbered; over 200 pp. total. Four leaves with clipped and mounted prints and hand-written captions appear to be the addition of the previous owner, and are partially detached; binding otherwise sound.
