The printed first edition score of his first opera Les Pecheurs des Perles [The Pearl Fishers], arranged by the composer for piano and voices, paginated 1-210 [but in fact 214 pages, as the numbers 85-88 have been repeated]. 4to, bound in roan backed boards, gilt title and bands on spine. Published by Choudens, Paris, n.d. [1863]. Signed and Inscribed on the dedication page in French to the tenor Francois Morini, who sang the major role of Nadir in the first production (and who is listed on the following printed Personages page): "A Nadir Morini - faible témoignage de reconnaissance, d'estime et d'amitié Georges Bizet." Each measuring 25.8 x 18.8 cm, mounted to larger sheets and contained in the original publisher's wrappers featuring an ornate cover design, 34.5 x 27 cm. A printed ticket affixed to the upper front wrapper reads "N.B. Upright folio. 25 pp.  A historic presentation copy inscribed by Georges Bizet to the French composer Jules Massenet on the title-page (translated from the French): "To the author of Marie-Magdeleine / with all my admiration and all my heart / Georges Bizet."  Additionally, the front wrapper has been addressed to "Monsieur Massenet / 38, rue Malesherbes" in Bizet's hand.  Original printed limp green wrappers, front and rear wrappers detached; extremities worn and chipped, repairs along same; toned; damp staining to front and rear wrappers.  Title-page detached, damp stained, extremities worn, Bizet's inscription slightly affected by damp; damp staining in all leaves. An extraordinary series of autograph Letters to the French Impresarios André Charlot and Jean Charlot, organizers of the 1,000th performance of Carmen at the Opéra-Comique on December 23, 1904. The Charlots solicited acknowledgements of the opera's importance from leading composers and librettists prior to the performance, and the present collection includes responses to this solicitation from Alfred Bruneau, Gustave Charpentier, Vincent D'Indy, Théodore Dubois, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gabriel Pierné, Giacomo Puccini, Camille Saint-Saëns, and the opera's co-librettist, Ludovic Halévy. Bound volume of first and early editions of works for violin and piano from the collection of noted French violinist and violist Jean Bernis (1857 - 1889), including four inscribed to him by Saint-Saens, Colonne, Luigini and Lemoine and rare first editions of two of the greatest and most beloved virtuoso works in the violin repertoire, the Saint-Saëns "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso" and Wieniawski's "Polonaise Brillante." Bound together in contemporary cloth boards, spine stamped "Bernis" and with affixed leather plate ("Violon et Piano / Divers").
