Cage, John. (1912–1992) [Duchamp, Marcel. (1887-1968)]. "Sculpture Musicale" - SIGNED. Madrid: Estampa Ediciones. 1991.

Sculpture musicale. Sons durant et partant de différents points et formant une sculpture sonore qui dure (Marcel Duchamp). Softcover. 4to. 18 pp. Numbered 43 of 300 copies, the first 100 being signed at the rear on the limitation page. Covers fine, minor yellowing, protected by a glassine cover.

This is an example of an exercise in word manipulation (Mesostic) created by Jackson Mac Low and recreated by Cage. Cage used mesostics extensively throughout his life. A mesostic is a poem or other text arranged so that a vertical phrase intersects lines of horizontal text. It is similar to an acrostic, but with the vertical phrase intersecting somewhere in the midst of the line, as opposed to the beginning of each line. In a 50% Mesostic the second letter of the mesostic does not appear between itself and the first letter. In this case Marcel Duchamp is the phrase in question.
